Review: Lime Crime Venus Palette

*SCREAMS* Look what arrived! I have been wanting to get my hands on this palette for so long, and I finally took the plunge last weekend and ordered both the Venus and the Venus II palette from the Lime Crime website. I am so insanely glad that I did, because - spoiler alert -  it is probably the best palette I have ever bought, which is coming from the girl who owns a Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly palette...

Before anything, can we please just appreciate the gorgeous packaging of this palette? Lime Crime have once again outdone themselves with this fabulous box art. Seeing the goddess Venus with blue hair is just so wrong that it's right, and I'm totally obsessed with it. The palette is cardboard, which I know a few people won't like, but it's very strong, stiff board with a magnetic closure.

Secondly, I've never thought of experimenting with red eyeshadow before I bought this palette, but it's quickly become one of my favourite looks. I feel so sexy and vampy with my current go-to combination of the Venus palette and Saint velvetine. I'm not sure if it's suitable for all occassions, but I'll test it out when I start full-time work next week *wink*.

Now look at these fabulous colours. Look at them. The perfect mix of soft and grunge shades, which sums up the Venus palette perfectly. It's such an amazing, vibrant change from the nudes and pale pinks I usually reach for.

The colours in this palette are Venus, Shell, Aura, Creation, Icon, Rebirth, Divine and Muse. My favourite shade in the entire palette (and probably my entire eyeshadow collection) is Aura. It is an absolutely fabulous glowing ivory shade. I love it.

My next favourites are Venus and Muse, the palettes red shades. Venus is described as being the 'colour of bruised fruit', which sounds so grunge-y and Tumblr and cool, like those people who have stretched ears and "I probably hate you" in their Instagram bio. I will admit, these colours would make my inner 2014 indie-hipster-kid very jealous

The swatches honestly do not do these shades justice at all. I am cursing my awful camera for making these look so un-pigmented. Believe me when I say these colours are crazy pigmented and bright, I just wish I could get better photos of them.

The look I've created below is using Aura on the lid, Venus in the outer corner with shell and a touch of muse on the inner corners. I've mixed the Velvetines Riot and Saint on my lips (ignore Sam in the background, he's playing Pokémon.)

What do you think to this fabulous palette?
