3 Beauty Products For When Sleep Doesn't Come Naturally

I hate Sundays. I find myself wasting the day by not getting dressed until dinner time and watching countless episodes of Shameless instead of writing blog posts. After having such a lazy day combined with the sheer dread of going back to work the next morning, I find myself not being able to get to sleep most Sunday nights.

To battle this recurring insomnia, I've started introducing several products into my night time routine. They not only help me get to sleep quicker, but I also sleep for longer and wake up feeling renewed, in comparison to the mornings where I feel drained from disturbed or unsatisfying sleep.

LUSH Sleepy Body Lotion

(Let me know if you want a full review of this!)

This has to be the most hyped LUSH products since the Snow Fairy body conditioner last Christmas. Sleepy body lotion was originally released in September 2016, but recently made headlines when described as a 'miracle cure' for sleepless toddlers. I picked up a pot of it myself out of intrigue and found that it really does do what it says on the tub. Even whilst taking the photos for this post I was becoming drowsy from the gorgeous lavender and oatmeal scent this body lotion has.

How to use - I simply apply this lotion all over my arms if I'm wearing a short sleeved pyjama top, then over my pulse points. I find this works best when I apply small amounts to my wrists, behind my ears, on my chest and on the tops and soles of my feet.

When to use - I apply this body lotion around an hour prior to going to sleep, in my 'cool down' time where I snuggle up in bed and watch an episode of Shameless.

LUSH Breath Of Fresh Air Toner Water

This has to be one of my favourite LUSH products ever as it is so multi-functional. I mentioned back in my original review of this toner that I had been testing it out as a pillow spray, and I have been using it for the same purpose ever since. The scent of sea water and rose is so familiar and calming to me now, as soon as I take the lid off my body knows it's bedtime.

How to use - I usually mist one spray from the bottle directly onto my face, then spray a couple more times onto my pillow.

When to use - I find it's best to use this fifteen minutes before trying to sleep as it gives the spray chance to dry onto the pillows properly.

Spacemasks Intergalactic Warming Eye Masks

These eye masks are simply magic. I was sent one to try* after expressing an interest on their Instagram, then immediately bought two full boxes for myself. I was asleep so quickly the first time I used one that I didn't actually send my boyfriend a text saying goodnight. I sleep so deeply with these masks that I truly feel like I've entered another world and verge on lucid dreaming (although they do make my eyelids sweat.)

How to use - Place the mask over your eyes and hook the loops over your ears. Simples.

When to use - Make sure you are immediately ready to go to sleep as soon as you open this masks, as it begins to heat up right away. They are supposed to last for fifteen minutes, however I found them to be loads longer lasting.

What products make you sleep like a baby?

Products marked with an asterisk (*) were gifted to me by the lovely Harriet at Spacemasks. This does not affect my opinion on the products and all views are strictly my own. The additional two boxes of Spacemasks were bought by myself.

  9. I have heard a lot about the Lush Sleepy Body Lotion, but I was yet to read a review on it and I think you've convinced me! Definitely will need to check it out the next time I'm in Lush! I recently got to try Spacemask out recently as well, as I was collaborating with Distraction Box, and the eye mask was soooo good! Think I'll definitely have to invest in some more too! Great reviews of all the products!

I've been looking for a pillow spray that my boyfriend won't complain about so I'm definitely going to try these!

  14. I'm having such a hard time sleeping lately, so I think a trip to Lush is well needed! I'd love to try out that eye mask, as I don't usually have time for a bath (always taking showers instead).

  15. I've tried all of these products, and Sleepy is by far my favourite. I love how you can still smell it on your skin in the morning! If you want another pillow spray alternative, try Twilight body spray! It has the same scent as Sleepy, but the lavender is a little stronger. I've been using it as a pillow mist and I can't be without it anymore x

  17. I've heard amazing things about the Lush cream and the Spacemasks seem amazing as well. I don't have trouble sleeping at the moment cos I'm always so exhausted but these may come in handy over Winter when I'm a bit more restless.
