Why I'm Selling My Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette

That's right girls, I got my hands on the currently most-hyped palette in the beauty world - the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette. When it was pre-released in limited quantities a few weeks ago, the beauty blogging world was frantic. You either managed to order the palette, or you didn't. It was mega-stressful, but I was so proud when I managed to get it. So... Why in the hell am I selling it?

To start at the beginning, I'm a very big fan of rose golds and chocolatey shimmers when it comes to eyeshadows, but I usually shy away from the warmer shades of  burnt orange and red-browns, meaning this was the perfect palette for me to experiment with using those colours. Whomp whomp. Nah.

I just haven't reached for it at all since buying it. When it arrived, I didn't bother swatching it for a few days, when I'm usually straight in there when I get a new palette. Even when I did, I only bothered with two of the shades. Crazy, right?

Also, for such a pretty, photogenic palette, I have only posted one photo of it to my Instagram. Surely that should speak volumes as I normally takes hundreds of product photos before posting three of four sporadically, and for such a super-hyped palette, I should be smugly showing it off as much as possible. So why couldn't I care less for the Naked Heat?

I initially couldn't place what was wrong with this palette and why I lacked interest in it, until my babe Erin at MakeErinOver pointed it out. Where is the gold?? A palette with such warm shades as these desperately needs a gold to tie it all together, and a good shimmery gold shade is what the Naked Heat palette is lacking. Erin also sold her Naked Heat palette and managed to get her money back, so I hope I can too!

I can't even comment on the quality of the shadows, as I haven't bothered using 90% of them, but from what I've read, they apply a little chalky and some of them blend as a completely different colour when swatched. It seems that if I do want to use a palette with pinky-red and orange shades, I'm best off sticking to my Too Faced Sweet Peach palette.

In regards to the brush that's included, I just don't rate it. I'm never a fan of brushes that come with palettes as they never seem as good quality as ones you can buy separately, and I stand by that opinion where this brush is concerned. It just feels too synthetic, and like it doesn't pick up any product. I would have much preferred a sample of the primer potion instead.

I'm going to pop this palette on the UK Makeup Addicts Buy & Sell, so if you're a member who is dying for this palette, hit me up.

Do you have makeup products you just don't reach for?
What purchase is your biggest regret?

  1. I didn't rush to buy this as I don't use my current Naked palettes enough to justify it, the shades look so pretty however. I can totally relate to why you're selling it.

  3. The new Urban Decay heat palette din't really hit me (same goes to all their naked palette) there is something that I can't put my finger on. Maybe their color shades or there are plenty similar colors? I don't know honestly. I do hope you get your money back!

  5. I think it is an amazing palette and am confused as to why a few people have now said where is x shade or y shade when all the previews did detail which shades were featured x

  6. My strict cruelty-free stance aside, I didn't really care much for this palette when i first heard about it. You're right, it desperately needs a gold to tie it all together, because that's what would make this palette fierce. What really put me off was that UD was at least half a year too late to the fiery shades game. That said, it bothers me now when brands are trying to cash in on the latest trends, knowing that most of their fans will snatch it up without a moment's hesitation. There's too many palettes of this variety so it's gotten a bit boring, in my opinion.

Now, a green-centered palette, on the other hand, would be amazeballs.

  7. I'm so glad I didn't get hyped up as much as everyone else to buy this! I need a gold eye-shadow for summer, but this palette didn't impress me at all from the first time I saw it advertised!

  10. I'm really glad to read such an honest post -- it felt like everyone went absolutely bananas for this palette and now I have way less regret about not getting it! I used to wear nothing but gold and bronze, so I can understand why you'd miss it. Hope you sell it quick!

  11. I lusted after this when everyone got their hands on it and said I was going to buy it when it went on sale officially but honestly you're not the first person I've seen who's had those opinions and now I'm totally unsure of whether to spend the £40 or not! I hope you get your money back on it!

  16. Holy crap I never noticed that about the lack of gold! I'm actually super happy you posted it - I was getting tired of all of those bloggers always posting amazing reviews of every palette in the world as I was getting quite skeptical about whether or not it's actually good. Knew I could rely on you to speak your mind!

  22. I actually wanted this at first as I love warm toned shadows. It's a shame you didn't get on with it. I don't know if I'll be purchasing. I certainly don't want to rush into buying something I'm not sure of x

  23. It's a lovely palette, I would like to see it in the flesh to decide if it's suitable for me, I like the look of the Too Faced peach mattes palette and think I'd go for that over the Naked Heat palette xx

  25. I've never owned a UD palette and didn't really rush to buy this one because I'm not fussed about whatever's hyped up each month. However, I've heard very mixed reviews on this, so maybe it's a good thing I didn't buy it haha!

  26. It looks way too warm for me, I imagine it would look lovely on some people, just not me! Tbh it's why I haven't bought a UD Naked Palette yet, there hasn't been one that has enough cool colours for me. I am sure you will sell it on no problem, good idea! :-)
