Review: NARS Orgasm Blush

Ladies, I did it. I finally got an Orgasm. No, I don't mean my boyfriend had been slacking (you naughty lot!) I'm referring to the legendary NARS blush in the shade 'Orgasm'.

Being possibly the most hyped-about blush around and first released in the Spring of 1999, it was only a matter of time before I caved and bought it for myself.

What could be seen as a brave move as I'd never even swatched the blush or actually tried anything from NARS, I bought the Limited Edition version, which is 85g of product as opposed to the regular 55g. Obviously, I had a good feeling about it.

As a peachy pink, the colour is absolutely perfect for my complexion and looks amazing. On me, this blush is actually more pink than it is peach, which I think looks lovely as I adore a girly, pale blush, with my usual favourite being Benefit's Dandelion, however I think this might just be my new go-to. I'm already eyeing up a similar shade from NARS with the slightly less subtle name of 'Deep-Throat' as it's described as a 'soft pink.'

Please note: I do not currently have a swatch photo as my camera battery went flat, and my boyfriend's old camera (which I was planning on using) is a bit rubbish. I'm sorry, but it's coming soon I promise!

The blush comes packaged in (what I've read to be) NARS' classic black rubber packaging. It was also inside a cardboard insert for safety, which was slotted into the outer packaging. Most brands miss out this step and often products arrived smashed, so I love how NARS took the extra time to ensure each blush arrives pristine. I also absolutely adore the beautiful model on the outer packaging, she looks so classic and elegant, but also with a Lolita-esque touch about her (and I desperately want her lipstick.)

The texture is perfect for a blush. I wouldn't quite describe it as creamy as it's a powder blush, however it is incredibly pigmented and only a couple of small swipes in the pan are required to get a wearable amount on the brush. It blends well and is slightly sheer, but build-able, so you're left with a beautiful, natural flush.

The staying-power is also pretty good, lasting me almost through an 8 hour shift, and only fading a little the last couple of hours. Overall, the blush stays looking pretty noticeable for a good 5 - 6 hours, then a little more subtle as the day wears on.

The only thing I'm not as keen on is the amount of shimmer in the blush, as I prefer to have a dewy base and slightly more matte cheeks as opposed to a lot of sparkle all over. That being said, it certainly isn't overly shimmery, and I've found that 'blotting' it with a little setting powder (I use w7 Banana Dreams) mattes it quite nicely. Once again spying on the NARS website, it seems the matte blush named 'Amour' may be more suited to what I'm after.

Do you own this cult-classic blush?

  7. This is one of my favourite blushes! I tend to alternate between this and the Soap & Glory stick one (whose name I have forgotten at this precise moment in time...!)
