3 Budget Skincare Products For Dry Skin

One of my favourite things about myself is my skin and complexion. It's peachy, soft and I hardly ever get any spots with minimal effort. I can go for days without cleansing it properly, and I'm a repeat offender of going to bed without taking my makeup off.

So as you can imagine, I was horrified when I woke up one morning and realised that weeks of abuse had turned my near perfect skin into a dry, cracked and rubbery mess.

In part, I blame my job. The air conditioning is permanently set to subartic and I can almost feel it sucking the life out of my skin sometimes, meaning my lips are almost always chapped. In the mornings, I'm rushing to get to work and so skip the essential 'cleanse, tone and moisturise' in favour for 'slap on some concealer and run', h
owever, neither of these excuses make up for the fact that I don't drink enough water to keep my skin hydrated and I'm too lazy to remove my makeup properly. Basically, I managed to ruin my own 19 year old skin in just a couple of weeks.

When I first noticed how dry and rough my skin was feeling, the first thing I did was panic and scrub my face, thinking that the roughness around my chin and neck was simply built up makeup and dirt. This was possibly the biggest mistake ever as it made my entire face burn and hurt for hours afterwards, sending me spiralling into almost total dispair.

So how did I fix my f*cked up face? With a little bit of care, a LOT of patience and these 3 dry skin saviours...

1. Amelia Moss Rosehip Oil*

This stuff genuinely is a miracle oil. Before I scuffed up my skin, I used to use this twice a week as an overnight face mask. The morning I almost scrubbed my skin raw in panic, I soothed the burning and redness with a few drops of rosehip oil. It calmed my skin almost instantly, and albeit feeling a little greasy, I knew it was doing a lot of good.

It was applied at 8:30 am, and even after dinner time I could still feel the oil on my face and no dryness whatsoever. I had only used four drops of the oil, but it lasted all day without needing to reapply until bedtime.

I continued applying the rosehip oil every morning and night for a few days until the redness had gone from my sore cheeks, leaving them calmed and soft. The Rosehip oil is actually £20 for 30ml, however this amount lasts absolutely ages and is a really good price for organic, luxury moisturing oils. Amelia Moss also sells Jojoba Oil for just £10, which I'd really love to get my hands on to try!

2. Nivea Soft moisturising cream

The next morning I was more prepared, packing myself an emergency skincare bag to keep in my desk at work so I could keep applying throughout the day and hopefully speed up the healing process. The bag contained a tube of Nivea Soft moisturising cream which is a product I've always stocked up on since I was 15.

I absolutely swear by this moisturiser and can't believe just how good it is for everything. I used to use it before applying my foundation, however I am now using it without any makeup to fix my poorly skin, and also as a hand cream to protect my hands from the air conditioning. I've started carrying my 75ml tube around everywhere with me, so my face can have a little moisture top up whenever it's needed.

A 300ml pot of Nivea Soft is currently £2.99 from Boots, which is an absolutely amazing price for such a lovely and versatile product.

3. EOS Lip Balm in Sweet Mint

I honestly had forgotten how much I loved this product until I needed it! I wrote a full review of this lip balm waaayyy back in March and was absolutely obsessed with it, until I lost it *cry*.

Luckily, the one day I need it the most, I found it again and I am so glad I did. EOS lip balms are honestly the best lip balm I have ever used, clearing up any chapped lips and dryness overnight.

You can buy the lip balms from pretty much anywhere, but Amazon is definitely the best with its bundle of 5 for just £14.

What are your skincare saviours?
