Review: Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

I'm a stickler for a good deal, so when I got an email from Benefit detailing how their new Goof Proof brow pencil was available as a free gift with this month's ELLE magazine, I jumped at the chance to get my hands on it.

Goof Proof is part of Benefit's fabulous new brows range which is in store from the 24th of this month, so it felt pretty cool to be able to try it early.

First of all I think the packaging is totally adorable. I love the new holographic, jewel shaped packaging of the product itself, which Benefit is also changing some of it's old favourites to (Gimme Brow etc.) This is pretty awesome as for such expensive products their previous packaging did make them look a little 'cheap.'

Goof Proof is available in six shades, ranging from very light to very dark. The shades available free with ELLE are shade 2 and shade 6, the second lightest shade and the darkest. I did come across the problem that from the magazine packaging you can't actually tell which shade you are buying, but I solved this by wiggling the packaging around until I could see through it to find out *wink.*

I bought both shades, the lighter for myself and the darker for my little sister, so that I was able to compare swatches of them.

Goof Proof lasts easily 10 hours, possible more as I forgot to keep checking! But is really easy to remove with just Micellar water. Despite being just a sample, the amount you get is incredibly generous and the only thing missing from the mini is the spoolie attached to the full-sized version.

As you can see, the lighter shade applied smoother than the dark shade. I wouldn't quite call it a 'glide-on formula' as the pencil is very hard. I would have liked if the pencil was a little softer as you don't get an even coverage of product on the first 'swipe' and have to press down pretty hard for any colour payoff, due to the diamond shaped tip.

However, once you do get it working the pigmentation is pretty good and I found the colour to be a realistic blonde, as opposed to most brow pencils which are usually just a lighter brown shade.

Will you be picking up this product, free with this month's ELLE magazine?
It's only £4.10 and you also get a free brow wax! Yay!
