5 Real Techniques Brushes I Can't Live Without

Wednesday, 6 April 2016
Anyone who's seen my bathroom windowsill will know I absolutely adore makeup brushes. I simply cannot get enough of them and there is literally nothing more exciting for me than the clean fluffiness of a new powder brush.

To detail my obsession, I currently own 23 makeup brushes, 18 of which are brushes by Real Techniques, yet I still ache for more. Gathering together the majority of my brushes for a photo was difficult enough, but the real task was choosing only 5 ultimate-favourites to recommend to you all today...

Shading brush
This brush is perfect for applying an eyeshadow crease colour. As it has an angled head I use it mainly to blend my darker coloured eyeshadow into the outer corners of my eye and up into my crease. This brush also makes it really easy to not apply too much product, something which I definitely value.

Base shadow brush
This brush does exactly what it says it should – it’s the perfect brush for applying eyeshadow base colours. This brush gives even covered and the shape of the brush lets you angle it to apply as little or as much shadow as you’d like. I’ve found wetting this brush a little results in an amazingly strong base colour.

Shading brush, base shadow brush, finishing brush, contour brush, buffing brush.
Finishing brush
As I don’t own a fan brush, I use my finishing brush to apply my highlighter. The small, but fluffy end results in the perfect amount of highlighter being applied and the shape of the brush makes it easy to blend the highlight in properly. I occasionally use this brush to dust a little powder round my nose and under my eyes, but not as often as I use it for highlighting.
Contour brush
I actually use this brush to apply my blusher as it’s just so rounded and fluffy, which makes for perfectly even blush application. It came as part of the base starter kit, but I would definitely have purchased it on its own if it hadn't.

Buffing brush

Saving the best until last, I am borderline obsessed with this brush, Real Techniques were really onto a winner with this buffing brush. I use it for literally everything, including buffing foundation and blending blusher when I've applied it too strongly.

Do you own any of these brushes?
What do you think to them?

  5. You'd kill me if you saw the brushes I have, literally just three. My issue is I just don't see the need to have a lot of them but I can totally dig that you have so many! :)
