January Sales - Soap & Glory

Sunday, 17 January 2016
Hello lovelies! As you may or may not already know I am an absolute stickler for a bargain! So you can bet your favourite lipstick I was one of the first people waiting outside Boots on Boxing Day morning, elbows at the ready, spoiling for a good fight in order to grab the best deals I could. I already knew from last year that there would be a good chance of the Soap & Glory gifts being in the sale and I was desperate to spend my Christmas money on some goodies.

I had in fact put several Soap & Glory gift sets on my Christmas list itself, although I had actually forgotten to print it out and show it to anyone (oops) So I thought of this as my second chance of getting my hands on them.

As luck would have it, the S&G sets were half price and I managed to grab a 'The Perfect Ten' eyeshadow set for £8 as opposed to £16. I had been eyeing (get it, eyeing? I'm so punny) up this set since I had first spotted it in November, absolutely in love with the delicate neutrals and shimmer shades.

Just close your eyes, dust on, and dazzle 'em! That's an offer I cannot refuse!
I'm struggling to pick my favourite shades as they all suit me so well, but I'm definitely most drawn to Choccy, Cream Soda, Nudecomer and Minky as I find them just so sparkly and pretty. Unfortunately, the shades are actually quite powdery and there is rather a lot of fallout *cry* especially among the lightest shades, Moon Mist and Cream Soda.

The darker shades are relatively pigmented and show up well on skin, although a primer is required to make them really pop. They all blend well, especially Choccy and Plumtious, and I love how this one palette can create a huge array of looks from day to night.

I also spent £8 on a 'Time To Pink' set which came with a makeup bag, roll perfume in Original Pink fragrance, pink glaze nail polish, a Sexy Mother Pucker lipgloss in the shade Candy Floss and best of all, the Love at First Blush shimmer powder, a product I had been considering buying on it's own for quite some time.

I love the shimmer powder so much, it's very delicate and not the most pigmented of things, but gives a beautiful shimmer on the cheeks. I use it by first swirling all colours together and applying to the apples of my cheeks, then use an eyeshadow brush to apply the lightest shade as a highlighter on my cheekbones.

I was absolutely thrilled to get the entire set for £8 as the products inside add up to a value of easily over £20, the shimmer powder itself being £11 and used a gift card from my Granddad to pay for my entire purchase, which came to £16.

I would like to add that you can actually now get this gift set for only £4.80 if you can find it in store! It is sold out online, but definitely keep your eyes peeled as it's an amazing offer.

What wonderful things did you get in the sales?
Did you do as well as I did?

  1. Such a good haul. We have a finite amount of Soap and Glory available in the states so I'm kind of jealous of that shimmer powder - it looks beautiful! Wear it well.
